    Driver Guidelines

    CAB ADVANTAGE REVIEW – Drivers will be matched to DOT citations using the identification number provided, or by underwriting analysis.  Individual drivers judged to have excessive points will be placed on MVR review or declared ineligible to drive.

    MVR for all drivers will be subject to review based on these items:

    • Valuation date must be no earlier than 90 days prior to inception date
    • Minor violations defined as those are not major infractions. (Major infractions will be listed in this section.)
    • Maximum of three minor moving violations (accidents and minor infractions associated with an accident will count as one minor infraction) in previous 36 months. (“Previous” is defined as the 36 months prior to policy inception date.)
    • Maximum of one at-fault accident in previous months. All accidents will be considered at fault unless accompanied by a law enforcement agency report assigning fault to other drivers.
    • All drivers’ CDL must be valid at the time the motor vehicle abstract report is reviewed by HIIG underwriting.
    • Suspensions, revocations, or expired CDL must submit proof of valid status prior to inception.
    • Minimum 2 Years Commercial Driving Experience

    Major infractions are considered to be any of the following type:

    • Driving while intoxicated
    • Driving under the influence of illegal or controlled substances
    • Negligent homicide arising out motor vehicle use
    • Operating a motor vehicle during suspension or revocation period
    • Use of a motor vehicle in commission of a felony
    • Aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
    • Operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s authority
    • Knowledge/permitting a person with major infraction to operate a commercial motor vehicle
    • Speed contest, exhibition of speed, reckless flight, street racing
    • Leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident
    • Failure to report an accident or reporting a false accident
    • Illegally passing a school bus
    • Excessive speed greater than 25 mile per hour above posted speed limit.
